Set a turnaround time for a group hike

Agree with your guide when to turn back so the return walk, transport and the slowest comfortable pace are included in the plan.

Plan the return first

Ask your guide how much time the whole route requires for your group, including the descent or return walk. Set a latest turnaround point based on current conditions and the guide's judgement. Reaching a viewpoint is only part of the outing.

Tell the guide about any fixed transport deadline before setting off.

Keep the group’s pace realistic

Let the slowest comfortable pace shape the shared walk. If the guide proposes separate groups, confirm supervision and meeting arrangements for both. Don't allow people to drift apart without an agreed plan.

Take breaks where the guide says they are appropriate and tell them early if someone is struggling.

Make turning back a valid outcome

Agree before the hike that the group will follow the guide's decision about stopping or returning. A paid trip doesn't create an obligation to reach a particular point.

For an Afadjato outing, save the guide contact, route and pickup arrangement in your plan. Keep the next activity optional. That removes a reason to rush on terrain that deserves attention.

Rules, fees and opening hours change. Confirm anything that matters before you rely on it.
