The forest can be the reason to go
Kakum is widely associated with its canopy walkway, but a fear of heights doesn't automatically rule out the park. Ghana Tourism Authority also describes guided forest walks and trails. Ask the park which ground-level options are operating before deciding whether the visit suits you.
Don't buy an activity simply because it dominates the photographs. A good outing should let you participate comfortably.
Split activities without splitting the day
If some friends want the canopy and others don't, agree on a meeting place and how you'll reconnect. Confirm that the alternatives work within the same visit window. Avoid leaving one person waiting alone with everyone's bags by default.
Ask about the physical demands of the approach as well as the walkway. Choosing not to cross the canopy doesn't necessarily remove all walking or uneven ground from the outing.
Look for a different kind of detail
A guided forest visit can focus on plants, sounds and the way a forest fits together. Bring a question rather than a promise to see an animal. The tourism authority notes that mammal viewing can be difficult here.
Start with the Kakum listing, then contact the park about your preferred activity. Give everyone in the group permission to choose their own level of participation before you arrive at the entrance.
