Read this before you book anything
Ghanaian event dates are announced late and they move. Organisers confirm lineups from October onwards, venues change between editions, and at least one big show shifts by a day or two most years. Everything below gives the shape of the season and the date the most recent edition actually ran, so you can plan a trip around it without being surprised.
Confirm on the organiser's own page before you pay for a flight. Where the entry below says the date varies, it genuinely does.
The anchors: two stadium shows
AfroFuture, formerly Afrochella, is the festival the whole season orbits. It runs across two days in late December at El Wak Sports Stadium in Cantonments, and it is music plus an art walk, a food village, fashion showcases and wellness sessions. The 2025 edition ran 28 and 29 December. Tickets range from around GHS 400 to GHS 3,500.
BHIM Festival is Stonebwoy's show, and it is the biggest artist-driven live music event in the country. It started as a homecoming in Ashaiman and now fills the Accra Sports Stadium, mixing reggae, dancehall, Afrobeats and highlife. The 2025 edition was 24 December. It lands close to Christmas, which is worth thinking about before you promise your family the same evening.

- BHIM Festival: one night, late December, Accra Sports Stadium, central Accra.
The beach parties
The coast east of Accra does the daytime and early evening work. Laboma Beach, next to the Kpeshie Lagoon between Labadi and Teshie, and Alora Beach Resort 120 metres along the sand, are where Afro Beach Ghana and several of the season's other beach events set up.
Tidal Rave and KiDi's Likor on the Beach are the two beach shows that have built the biggest following, and both have moved venue between editions. That is the thing to watch: do not book accommodation around last year's location, because the beach is announced closer to the date. Entry for beach events generally runs GHS 100 to GHS 900. Laboma is strong surf rather than a swimming beach, and most people there are in it for the music and the food.
The rest of the calendar
Detty Rave is the dance-focused night, heavy on reggae, dancehall and Afrobeats, held at Untamed Empire in Spintex and running to the early hours. The 2025 edition was 27 December. Spintex is a long way from Osu and East Legon, so plan the ride home before midnight.
The Accra International Conference Centre carries the seated, ticketed shows that need a roof. December in GH is the Ghana Tourism Authority's official nationwide programme, running from early December into the first days of January, and its published calendar is the closest thing to an official schedule. Outside Accra, Made in Taadi gives the Western Region its own December night in Takoradi, and Kumasi and Cape Coast run smaller versions of the same idea.
Christmas, and the last night
Christmas in Ghana is a family day. Church in the morning, a long meal in the afternoon, jollof and fufu and someone's aunt's stew, and the streets busy in the evening. Very little of the concert calendar runs on 25 December itself, because almost everyone is at home.
New Year's Eve is the opposite. The whole coast turns into one long party, with beach countdowns from Kokrobite eastwards, rooftop parties across Accra, and the watch-night church services that a very large part of the country attends instead. Whatever you choose, book the ride before midnight. For an hour after the fireworks the coastal road is one-way traffic and no app will find you a car.
What is not on this list, and why
Nightclubs are deliberately absent. Accra's club scene changes fast, and a club that was the place to be two Decembers ago may have closed, rebranded or moved. A stale name with a confident pin on it is worse than no pin at all, so the venues here are buildings that will still exist next year.
Also absent is anything we could not confirm. If an event appears on flyers but not on the organiser's own page, treat it as unconfirmed and check again closer to the date.
